Notes on evening dress

Midnight blue or black

Black can look grey under lamps. Many clients take midnight blue — deeper, cleaner on camera.

Satin only where it should be

A field of satin throws too much light. We keep it to the lapel and the trouser braid.

The shirt is part of the coat

Front, cuff and collar decide the whole. The shirt should be cut with the jacket.

Dinner, a wedding, a prize — each asks something else

Tell the designer the room and the light. Colour, lapel and the rest follow that, not a single evening pattern.
